Never Stop Creating

In case you don’t already know, I am an introvert who enjoys creating. However, with the busyness of new adulthood life, I find myself pushing creative outlets further and further towards the back burner. Does anyone else find themselves struggling to find the time to express their creativity in and betwixt all the obligations and pressures of day-to-day life? I’m almost certain the answer is unanimous.

I ask this because today was my day off work, and before going to class at University, I managed to convince myself to set aside some time to make a birthday card. After sitting down for a solid hour and a half, I felt an unconscious weight lift from me. I didn’t realize how deprived I was of being artistic!

These are a couple examples of cards I’ve made in the past. Enjoy 🙂

This recognition has led me to realize that creativity is such an important factor and practice in our lives to upkeep. It helps me personally to reconnect to myself in that moment of satisfaction of having completed something of my own creation.

I feel more myself when creating, even if it’s a simple doodle on a page or a steamy shower door, being creative keeps me sane. This realization has also gotten my mind racing with potential careers and previous dreams of mine that I’d forgotten about, like Graphic Design, or Interior Design. Creativity can help us discover our own potential.

My challenge to myself and to all of you is to set aside at least 1 hour per week to be creative in whichever way you want. Even if you just allow your mind to wander as you take public transit to your destination…making up stories about people who pass your window. Have fun with it 🙂

Cheers,

Holly
