Dimensions Art Gallery – Something New in the City

Worth it?

Yes! Dimensions Art Gallery in Vancouver is totally worth checking out. It has become a favourite among local Vancouverites offering tons of fun photo opts. It’s a great place to visit with friends and family and can take up as much of the day as you want it to. This gallery is also the perfect place to take a date if you’re looking to impress with something unique instead of the typical ‘dinner and a movie’.

The 3D artwork is incredibly creative and utilizes vivid colours, funky depth perception, and deceptive angles making for some pretty awesome photos. It is a photographer’s playland there. The entire gallery is set up with the idea of the admirer becoming part of the art itself, and each artwork hits it out of the park in this regard.

Getting in the door…

When you arrive at the gallery you will be met at the front counter by friendly staff ready to check you in. It costs $25/adult, and $15/child (5-13yrs), and is FREE for children under the age of four. There are cubbies inside for you to put your things if you don’t want to be weighed down while taking photos which is pretty considerate of them. Dimensions has only been around since 2020, but it’s quickly become a favourite of mine and of so many others.

Where is it?

Dimensions Art Gallery is located at 432 West Hastings Vancouver, BC. If you’re visiting Vancouver for the first time and have an extra afternoon on your itinerary, this experience will be one you won’t want to miss. It’s in a busy area of downtown but once you’re inside it feels as though you’ve left the city and gone into a different world.

For reference, it’s very close to Waterfront station where you can catch a train on the Canada and Expo lines or the seabus. This area of Hastings St. is very touristy and generally a safe area to spend time shopping and exploring. Keep your wits about you though, if you wander off to the East of Hastings it can get a bit sketchy.

Now imagine what you could capture here with a real camera and some skills?! These photos were taken on regular android phones, and we managed to get some good effects despite not being pro photographers. Try it out for yourself and see how many of the 3D scenes you can find and make your own.

If you’re introverted like us you’ll be stepping outside of your comfort zone for sure, but it is sooo worth it. Once you get out of your head and just go for it you’ll have a lot of fun! I hope you keep Dimensions Art Gallery in mind the next time you’re twiddling your thumbs wondering what to do with yourself on a day off, weekend, or holiday in the city.

Thanks for reading this post! P.S. This isn’t in any way sponsored by Dimensions Art Gallery, I just really enjoyed my time there and want to share it with whoever is interested! It’s always good to support local businesses when you can ^_^
